Being that Gwen is from New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, we knew we wanted to find a destination in the state for our wedding – one with plenty of lodging for all of our guests, ideally the ability to camp, and a certain desert feel. The moment we set foot on Ghost Ranch, we knew this was the place! From dinosaurs to Charles Lindbergh to Georgia O’Keeffe, we can see why so many have been drawn to Ghost Ranch over the ages. The beauty of this place is unmatched, and we truly hope you can make it out to experience that magic with us!
There are a variety of awesome things to experience on the ranch: horseback-rides, archeological tours, yoga, hikes, etc. There is even a nearby lake with both fishing and watersports. Really, plenty to occupy a whole week, much less a long holiday weekend. There is plenty of affordable lodging right on site (see the Lodging Page) and while there are no cooking facilities unless you bring an RV, there is a Dining Hall that serves three meals a day for an extra fee.
And assure your children, we have yet to see a single ghost around.
You can visit Ghost Ranch’s website here and read more about its storied history here.

Most likely, you will need a vehicle to reach the ranch. However, once you are at Ghost Ranch – unless you plan to take day trips to nearby Santa Fe, Taos, Ojo Caliente, or the Georgia O’Keeffe house in Abiquiu (highly recommended) – you really won’t need transportation. We can help arrange shuttles and/or ride shares from the airport if you are hoping to avoid renting a car – just shoot us an email or let us know when you RSVP!
Ghost Ranch is located 65 miles northwest of Santa Fe (forty miles beyond Española) on U.S. 84 between mile markers 224 and 225. If you are driving north from Española, stay on Highway 84 until you pass the Abiquiu Reservoir/Lake. The gate is on your right about 7 to 10 minutes after you first see the lake on your left.
